Privacy Policy

    Short version: We collect only what's needed to run the service. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
  

1. Who We Are

HanBeom ("we", "us", "our") is an AI assistant service for people visiting or living in Korea. The service is operated by an individual developer based in the Republic of Korea. Contact: godbaby2018@gmail.com

2. What Data We Collect

Account data: When you sign up, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not store plaintext passwords.

Chat messages: Your conversations with HanBeom are stored to provide context across a session and to improve the service. Logs are retained for up to 90 days.

Location data (GPS): If you grant location permission, your GPS coordinates are used in real time to find nearby restaurants and places. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates beyond the content of the chat log.

Payment data: Payments are processed by Paddle. We do not receive or store your credit card number or payment details. We receive only a subscription status and a subscriber ID from Paddle.

Usage logs: Basic server logs (IP address, timestamp, request type) are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

To operate the AI chat service and maintain your account
To process location-based search queries (nearby restaurants, etc.)
To manage your subscription status
To detect and prevent abuse
To improve response quality based on anonymized usage patterns

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

Running HanBeom requires the following third-party providers. Each has its own privacy policy.

Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes your chat messages to generate responses. Messages are sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing.
Paddle — handles all payment processing. Paddle is the Merchant of Record; their privacy policy governs payment data.
Kakao — used for location search (restaurant lookup, geocoding). GPS coordinates are sent to Kakao's Local API when you perform a location-based search.
Railway — cloud hosting provider where the service runs. Server data is hosted on Railway's infrastructure.
OpenWeatherMap — provides weather data when you ask weather-related questions. GPS coordinates may be sent to retrieve local weather.

5. Data Retention

Chat logs: 90 days from the date of the conversation
Account data: retained until you delete your account
Payment records: retained as required by Paddle and applicable tax law
Server logs: 30 days

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and associated data
Export your chat history
Object to processing in certain circumstances

7. Location Permission

HanBeom requests access to your device's GPS location to provide nearby restaurant and place search. This permission is optional — you can use the service without granting location access. If you deny location permission, location-based features will not work, but all other features remain available. You can revoke location permission at any time through your browser settings.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to remember your language preference and login session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. No tracking cookies are set.

9. Children

HanBeom is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access-controlled databases. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
